Today we are going to take a field trip to the Hershey Bar Factory so you can learn how they make their chocolate. How, you may wonder? Well, we will be taking a virtual field trip right from our computers.
Wouldn't it be cool to make your own homemade chocolate bar? I think so! However, just like baking a cake there are directions to follow for it to come out just right. In reading, we follow directions too, or a sequence. It is important to know the order, or sequence in which events take place in a story. It helps you understand what you are reading.
When explaining the sequence to someone else, it is also important to know the correct order, or the story or events will not make sense.
Remember when you are looking for the sequence think of the order of these words: first, then, next, after, before, last and finally.
Please print the sequencing worksheet to help organize your ideas. As you watch, think of the steps needed to create a Hershey's Bar (hint: think about the main idea of each video)
If you would like to read about the Hershey's Factory instead of watching the video you can complete this using the same graphic organizer.
Click here for extra practice for students who are having trouble with sequencing. Click here, once you are at the website there will be a series of pictures that need to be placed in the correct order.
